John Lofton sensei first began his martial arts journey in 1974, at the age of fourteen, with judo and tai-chi. In 1975, he transitioned his focus and began passionately training in Renbukai Karate-do studying intensely under Black Belt’s Hall of Fame Ron Marchini. His studies continued with instruction from Leo Fong, Tom Strobel and Doug Van Order. In 1976, he starting competing on the open tournament circuit and, as a fighter, was ranked third in the California Karate League.

Sensei Mario DiManno has been training with the Renbukai dojo for over 20 years. Since being Italian he operates four of the best pizzerias on the west coast Cenarios Pizza. With his business sense is the financial adviser to Renbukai of California. Sensei Mario DiManno holds the rank of Nidan in Renbukai personally certified by Sensei Kikumura of the all Japan Karate-Do Federation Renbukai Kenagawa Japan.

Born in 1961, sempai Randall Swanson’s first Martial Arts media influence was through the likes of Bruce Lee, and a short while later David Carradine and Chuck Norris. In his teens, Randy briefly attended an after-school YMCA traditional karate program held at his local high school. The program failed to provide him the much-needed connection between technique and application, in large part due to the high instructor to student ratio. This continued to pose a problem in later years when he looked for that “perfect” dojo.
